Frequently Asked Questions

Where do we start, or what are the first steps to remodeling a kitchen or bathroom?

The first step is to have a designer come to your house for a free consultation.  This is the time to discuss ideas and design preferences, communicate changes or improvements that you want incorporated into your new space, and ask any questions you may have about the construction process.  Once this has been discussed, we will help you establish a realistic initial budget for the project.  If the budget is acceptable, a design retainer cost is agreed upon for the creation of an initial design.  Next, the designer will measure your space and take some notes that will enable a design and quote to be assembled.

Next is to review and discuss the proposal. This is the time to consider the details of the design and talk about any changes that you may want to see as options.  The design process is just that, there are always modifications that become apparent as you consider how the designer’s interpretation of your needs will function in reality. Sometimes homeowners have strong opinions about how their new space should be laid out, but when presented with a more functional, professional design, change their minds completely for the alternative. It’s more important for you communicate what deficiencies your existing space has, and what things work well. A designer has experience in creating a new space that addresses both.
